Better Jobs. Better Lives.

Now is the time to join together in union and demand fairness, respect and a voice on the job.

Why the IAM

Respect on the Job

A union-negotiated contract puts rules in place that allow you to do your job without fear of retaliation or unjust treatment. If you feel those rules have been broken, you have the legal right to appeal through a grievance procedure. As a result, everyone is treated with respect. Not just management’s chosen favorites.

Consistency

A union will bring consistency to the workplace. Things like raises, medical benefits, vacation and other work rules will be determined through negotiations with Altec. These things won’t be able to be changed on a whim by management. It’s objective and it’s predictable, so you can plan for your future.

Strength & Security

With a voice on the job comes strength and security. Managers will no longer be able to make the rules up as they go—dodging your concerns and treating you like second class citizens.  The IAM will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with you to make sure it’s enforced. That’s peace of mind. That’s strength.

What’s an Authorization Card?

You can expect a lot of misinformation from management about the authorization card. The authorization card’s sole purpose is to show the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) there is sufficient interest in a union to hold a secret-ballot election. They are NOT membership applications and they are NOT shown to the company. In fact, it is illegal for the company to ask to see them.

Be Prepared…

Most companies choose to run an anti-union campaign once they find out their workers are looking to make their voice heard via collective bargaining. Check out this video to learn more about what you can expect out of the anti-union campaign directly from a former union buster.

Building on Existing Relationships

The IAM already represents 300,000 workers in North America. These union members are able to sit down with management and negotiate over work issues that matter to them. Don’t you deserve the same? Click here to learn more about how the collective bargaining process works and what you can expect if you vote to form a union.
